Rodent Pest Control NJ

In San Francisco, a 43-year old woman dubbed “Rat Girl” has been breeding hundreds and thousands of rats that have started to terrorize the city. New York’s Daily News has reported that the rats she has been breeding since 2011 have begun to borrow through walls, park grounds and in between building foundations to get around. San Francisco’s Animal Care and Control Captain reported that the hotel room Rat Girl was staying in while she bred her rats was “intense” because hundreds of rats were crawling around mounds of garbage. While the amount of rats is unsettling, what they leave behind is even worse.

The reason rodent control in NJ is needed is because of the bodily fluids they produce, the diseases they carry and the damage they could inflict on your home. Rodents were responsible for carrying the fleas that caused the Bubonic plague that swept through Europe centuries ago. The hair, urine and droppings of rodents are all known to harm the air around them as well as the humans around them. They have also been known to chew through electrical wiring and burrow through walls such as the rats in San Francisco. The only way to get rid of them is to hire an experienced pest control company.

ALCO NJ Animal and Pest Control specializes in NJ rodent control. We have been providing pest control for homes and offices in New Jersey for many years. Wasp Control NJ

It's summertime! That means warmer weather, the regrowth of plant life and the re-population of insects. Although the world could not function without insects, there are some that are very dangerous; wasps fall under this category. Mostly confused with harmless bees, wasps are more aggressive than their honey-producing cousins. If aggravated, they will relentlessly attack their target until they feel safe again in their territory. Because of this, wasp control in NJ is needed during the summer.

ALCO NJ Animal and Pest Control uses safe, humane and environmentally safe products that will not harm animals or your family. Since 1995, ALCO has been providing wasp control in NJ to positive reviews. We have the knowledge and expertise it takes to remove the insects without a problem. We understand that having an infestation can be a stressful experience for you and your family so we aim to take care of the pests as quickly as possible.

Wasps act in two manners: solitary or social. Solitary wasps act and live alone and do not construct nests. Social wasps live in colonies that can consist of several thousand members. In their colony, the queen and males will mate to produce more wasps to join the colony. Parasites also grow in the colonies and attach themselves to the wasps, ensuring a spread of diseases when the wasps fly and take these parasites with them. ALCO’s wasp control in NJ aims to remove the wasps and the parasites that threaten your health.

NJ Pest Summer Tips

This summer there will be plenty of parties and BBQs, besides that you may have a visit from a few pests during the summer. Uninvited guests can ruin the fun pretty quickly but with these helpful tips you'll start the party right.

If you have a BBQ planned for the afternoon into night mosquitoes may come and join the party. They often come out during dusk, and into the night. Always have plenty of insect repellent around when you are outside to stop from getting bitten. Just by taking this step, you won’t have to worry about waking up in the morning, covered in reminders that you forgot to put on repellent. If you find that mosquitoes are becoming a more a serious problem then in the past, you may need a professional Pest service in NJ.

Decorate your deck or patio with citronella candles to help minimize the presence of mosquitoes.
Over the years, your screen door may develop few holes from normal wear.  Patching those holes is often a quick and simple fix. You can also install a brand new screen without having to worry about those patched up holes opening up again. People will constantly be walking in and out of your house, so make sure they close the door behind them. This can lead to more major pest problems that require NJ pest control.

Be sure to always keep your areas clean of trash and spills. If they are left unattended for too long flies or bees will soon join the party. Keep the food covered and sealed at all times during to prevent bugs and rodents from scavenging. This can cause some serious pest problems.

Alco Pest Control wants you to have a fun, and pest free, summer. These NJ Pest summer tips will prevent pests from bothering you too much at your party. Flying Pests: NJ Bee Control

Spring is a beautiful time of year where nature starts to teem with life. With all of the beauty, there are some drawbacks. NJ pests also come back to life during the spring, and can become a major nuisance for homeowners and business owners alike. They can be especially dangerous for a family member, or yourself, if someone is allergic to bees. Alco Pest Control, a NJ pest control company, wants to help you distinguish some of the areas worst offenders: bees, wasps, and hornets.

Bees – There are three main types of bees in NJ: honey bees, bumble bees, and carpenter bees. The majority of honey bees in NJ are kept in managed colonies for honey harvesting. Honey bees are distinguished by their amber ½ inch body covered with hair. Bumble bees in NJ have round yellow and black bodies covered in fine hair. They are generally non-aggressive unless provoked. Carpenter bees in NJ look like bumble bees but their abdomens are black and shiny. They drill tunnels in wood where they lay their eggs.

Wasps – There are two main types of wasps in NJ, the paper wasp and yellow jacket. Paper, or Red, wasps have distinct paper like hives that are built on the underside of things like benches and eaves. Paper wasps rarely sting humans, unless their nest is located near a door way or another high-traffic area. Yellow Jackets in NJ however are the cause for the most human sting victims. Yellow Jackets are about half an inch long, like a honey bee, but are bright yellow and black with a shiny body. They are an extremely defensive species and make their nests in holes in the ground, which is why most homeowners discover the nest while mowing. Unlike honey bees, Yellow Jackets can sting multiple times.

Hornets – Bald Faced Hornets are the most common type of hornet in NJ. They are about ¾ of an inch long and black with ivory or white markings. They are not defensive and often make nests quite close to human activity, without becoming a nuisance.

If you are experiencing a problem with any of these NJ pests and need them removed, call Alco Pest Control today and speak with one of our trained NJ pest control experts.

NJ Pest Control

Due to New Jersey’s diverse eco-system there is a wide variety of pests that residents will encounter in their home. Although most of them will be an occurrence, there is always a danger of infestation. The NJ pest control experts at Alco Pest Control want you to be more familiar with the most common insects found in NJ.

Ants – One of the most prolific species of insects in the world, they account for one-fifth of the Earth’s total biomass. With the exception of carpenter ants, the ants typically found in NJ are often just a nuisance. Once ants become established in a home, they are almost impossible to eliminate without proper NJ pest control. This is due to the difficulty in location the nest and the multiple colonies they will often establish.

Camel-Back Cricket – More often referred to as Cave Crickets, these crickets are tan in color and about one inch long. Crickets feed on organic matter, but damage synthetic fabrics as well as natural. Although there is no inherent danger, their consistent chirping hits the nerves of every NJ resident.

Stink Bug – Easily identified by their hard, flat, shield-shaped protective cover on their backs, they are either beneficial insect-eaters, or plant-destroying pests. In North NJ, the brown Asian Stink Bug appears a dull brown or gray, and will feast on fruits vegetables and green plants. In the fall, thousands of these pests will congregate on the south facing side of a home looking for a way in to find shelter for the winter. When spring arrives the bugs will emerge and again create problems both inside and outside many New Jersey homes. It is important to contact a professional NJ pest control company if you suspect your home of being infested with these pests.
